Luis Matías Santos Montes
Luis Matías Santos Montes (Valladolid, 1977) is a Spanish artist who creates fantastic works using one very simple and 100% natural material: paper.
The artist starts with a smooth surface and folds the paper into beautiful organic shapes. He draws inspiration from the geometric shapes found in nature and develops these using mathematical equations. In his work, he explores new techniques in a pursuit to perfect paper as an artistic material.

Artist in residence - 2024
In 2024, Luis was one of the 30 finalists for the Loewe Craft Prize. We came into contact with Luis through Racso Jugarap , who was also among the finalists. We invited Luis to Le Maar and got to know him and his family well. In the meantime, Luis exhibited his works at Adrian David Gallery in Knokke, among other places.
